I'm going to be relocating from my current home in Bangalore, India to Brno in the next couple of months and I'm looking for recommendations from folks who live there or have traveled through. I have been a couple of times on business and have enjoyed excellent high end meals at both Borgo Agnese (Italian) and Hansen. I've sampled the Greek food at Pontos (not too bad, although the lamb chops were over cooked), kielbasa and roast pork in two of the squares downtown during the Christmas market, a whole bunch of different items on the menu at the lounge and restaurant at the Holiday Inn (not too inspiring) and a very nice roasted pork tenderloin with gnocci at Arka in the Jundrov neighbourhood.
I'm interested in all food, whether it's traditional Czech (I need to develop a taste for dumplings as they do not yet inspire me), or from any other country/culture that is on offer. After more than a year in India I'm keen for decent Chinese food, anything Vietnamese, pork in any way shape or form and lamb that is really lamb and not goat passed off as lamb.
I'll also accept recs for places to eat in towns around Brno as I plan to get out and explore once I've arrived.
Appreciate the help as I didn't see too much on Brno when I did my initial searches. Also does anyone know if/when CZ plans to ban smoking in restaurants/pubs? Even Bangalore hasn't permitted this for a couple of years and I was quite shocked to see it is still permitted in CZ.
