Bringing back truffle products from the Perigord

I'll be in the Dordogne area in May and I know it isn't truffle season, but I'm wondering about other types of truffle products (canned, butter, etc). Is there anything to watch out for in terms of quality (like the way you'd watch out for the cheap Eastern European foie gras there)? Are these products a good value in France given our sliding dollar, or are they the same things I can get here?
