brewers summit and smith & wolensky

did the brewers summit on friday night. i must say that i have not been to one of these things since i stopped homebrewing in the mid-90's. i was very impressed with the quality of beverages offered and even the band was pretty kewl. however, what i really can't get over is the quality of women. in years past all you could find was beards and overalls, not any more, lotsa hotties!

anyway, aside from the beers we did have cocktails at Flash's, i had a pretty good Knob Creek manhattan.

we were able to get a booth at smith and wollensky at about 830pm, the place was only half full. i was a little cautious because of what i have read here in the past but i must say i was very impressed.

started with a few dozen oysters and shrimps. the oysters were perfect, plump, fresh, briny, yummy. the shrimps were very large and done perfectly, a nice snap on the tooth and not overcooked in the least.

i had the rib eye, but there were also a filet and prime rib ordered. all were excellent in size, flavor and degree of requested doneness. for sides we did all the usual suspects, asparagus (not too fat), mushrooms, whipped spuds and creamed spinach. all were excellent.

i let the sommilier pick the wine and he did and admirable job for $60.00 but i forgot the name/vintage.

we didn't do dessert, cuz quite frankly we were all pretty loaded.

a quick cab back to the commuter rail and i was home by 1am and slept all of saturday.

oh yeah, the bill was $525.00 with tip.

i will go back.
