Brents Deli, Northridge

alwayshungrygal | Nov 25, 201303:48 PM

Greetings LA hounds. I'm coming down from the Bay Area at the end of next week and going to a concert at CSUN. I thought dinner at Brent's would work for the time frame/locale. BUT--I ate there on a visit a few years ago (had the Black Pastrami Reuben as recommended by several posters at that time) and was frankly underwhelmed. Too much gristle on the sandwich and I was disappointed with the service provided to a me as a solo diner.

I'm willing to give it another try, but thought I'd stick to more basic fare. I love Katz's pastrami sandwich (I have yet to revisit Langers, haven't been there since I lived in LA 30 years ago and it's on my bucket list for future trips to LA) but don't want to risk disappointment. I'm also considering an order of latkes, since Hanukkah will just be over on that date. My adult son will be with me as he lives in Santa Clarita and is occasionally in that part of the Valley so thought I'd get Brent's into our restaurant rotation.

Any thoughts, recommendations? I can't get great deli in Santa Clarita or even where I live, and really want to love Brent's. It would definitely feed my soul, as well as my stomach, if you get what I mean. My health might suffer in the short term but what the heck.

Many thanks!
