Breakfast at Mama's follow up

I took notes this time. My husband and I got up early enough on Sunday to go to Mama's by Washington Square.
We got there just shy of 8am, barly made it through the first seating.
I had their prociutto tomato poached eggs over english mufin with home fries. My husband had the cranberry walnut French toast with egg white batter.
I must say we've never been disappointed with the food at Mama's. My poached eggs were perfectly poached, creamy and runny on the inside, nice and light on the outside. I don't like hollidais sauce so I can't give an opinion on that, but the combination of prociutto and tomatoe is excellent, not too heavy and just enough saltiness and tartness to offset the eggs. The home fries are perfectly fried, crunchy and flavorful but not oily or dried on the inside.
My husband's French toast was excellent as well. It's not a yeast bread but rather a coffecake type of bread. Dipped in egg white batter it's even better with less guilit! Of course we always made sure we order some "appetizers" before our main course. An assortment of freshly baked breakfast goods are available daily. This morning we sampled their blueberry coffee cake and the apple cinnamon walnut bread, we were not disappointed. You have to get up early or wait in long lines to snatch a table at Mama's, but for us it's all worth it.
