Breakfast near Columbia U., and Chanterelle

I will be in the center of the universe the weekend before Valentine's Day and will be staying at a small hotel on W. 111th St. Can I get any Houndolicious recommendations for breakfast in the area. I don't mind walking a few blocks, preferably in the direction of a train station (maybe it should be a few blocks away from a station, to work off some calories on the way to the train).

Also, has anyone been to Chanterelle in TriBeCa lately? I know William Grimes published a fairly critical review in the Times a year or two ago (or whenever) and have seen a review that largely concurred with Grimes's assessment (still good but slipping). I was wondering if anyone has been there lately and can report on whether the Waltucks have tightened their act lately.

Re the February trip ... no reservations made yet but I hope to be able to have lunch at JoJo, dinner at I Trulli, Sunday dinner at Nougatine, and lunch at the Gramercy Tavern bar. Will report when I get back (hopefully that I was able to get in!).
