My hubby and I were VERY excited to find a new breakfast spot in Leaside this weekend. We're always on the hunt for great breakfast haunts. It's called RPM and is located in the old RPM magazine building (RPM was a trade mag and the founder of what are now known as the Juno Awards). It's on the west side of Brentcliffe Rd. (one light east of Laird), south of Eglinton -- across from the Storage Now building.
Nice setting -- clean, comfortable decor. Nice bar area with a gorgeous coffee machine that turns out great coffee. All day breakfast menu with the usual suspects (bacon and eggs, pancakes, french toast, omelettes, brekkie sandwiches, fresh fruit, etc.). Simple lunch menu includes homemade burgers (made fresh on site -- I checked!) and grilled chicken breasts.
We only had breakfast, so can't vouch for the lunch menu. But breakfast was excellent -- decent pancakes, eggs and bacon cooked exactly to my description. Hubby's grilled cheese and bacon used a nice aged cheddar and crispy bacon.
I believe the owners are husband and wife. Husband takes care of the front, wife cooks up all the chow. Really friendly, laid back vibe. When we were there yesterday, there were newspapers on several of the tables, inviting folks to sit back and have a leisurely meal. There was a table of folks that were clearly already regulars. I figure any place that has happy regulars after only being open 3 months is doing something right.
Anyway, highly recommended for a good, basic breakfast. Nothing trendy, just simple food prepared well and served with a smile in a nice setting.
