I called ZuZu to make a reservations for brunch on Sunday at 11am, and was told there was a table for four at 10:30 available. When we arrived, the room looked about 3/4 filled with a few open tables. I approached the hostess, who looked up the reservation, looked around the room, and then said, "It will just be a few minutes". Um, okay. As we waited for a few minutes looking out on the pool, a few separate groups of couples walked in and were immediately seated. The hostess had begun speaking to someone (who I learned later was the manager) so I approached again, and we were seated.
About five minutes passed without water or coffee, and no sign of our waitress. After a couple more minutes, our server arrived. On the table was placed a basket of delicious, warm strawberry-chocolate chip scones with butter and apricot preserves.
Stuffed french toast (cranberry-walnut bread + cream cheese filling, ($9.25)
Poached eggs benedict ($9.50)
Strawberry waffle (w/orange honey curd, $8.25)
Denver omelet (sauteed onion, sweet peppers, roast ham w/Tillamook cheddar cheese, $9.00)
Side of bacon ($3.50)
Everyone really enjoyed everything. The stuffed french toast was really good, but it contained so much cream cheese I probably had enough left-over to cover a bagel. Besides that, delicious. It came with a side of roasted Yukon Gold potatoes (which I believe came with everything on our table) and sauteed apples w/cinnamon. My gf's eggs benedict was good, the hollandaise had a nice lemony zing similar to how I make it myself and the eggs were poached just right. The strawberry waffle was outstanding; it was nice and thick but the orange honey curd really put it over the top. I did not try to the omelet, but it quickly vanished to with comments of satisfaction. The side of bacon came with three really thick slices which was nicely cooked and tasty; worth the add-on. No one really commented on the coffee, but to this coffee-drinker, it was a solid cup.
What our breakfast lacked was our server's attention. Apparently a couple of people called in sick, and it definitely impacted things; we had to ask for water, more coffee, etc. When she did show up, she dropped off the check in the middle of the meal (a big pet-peeve of mine). The manager showed up to clear some plates, and I mentioned that our server was noticeably absent and she apologized and handed me a card for a free app/dessert (I had already paid the bill). Total was $55 w/tax which I thought was a good value for all of the good food.
I am looking forward to going back, because apart from the service, we enjoyed the meal a lot.
