Bravo Fono Stanford Shopping Center

LPC | Jan 1, 2006 05:56 PM

So I think is somewhat heretical, however, today I remembered how much I love a place called Bravo Fono in the Stanford Shopping Center. It's just really well made simple pure somewhat elegant old-fashioned food.

Today I had sole meuniere and caesar salad. Actual anchovies. Lettuce crisp and well-dried. Tangy dressing. Fish was perfect, sauce creamy and lemony. A single whole boiled potato, 3 pieces of perfectly cooked fat asparagus with no woody part, and a broiled tomato.

S had a cheeseburger. Perfect. Ketchup and mustard come in little pots. Minestrone to start that he loved. D had a club sandwich. Super thin toasted bread with no crusts, avocado fanned out on the plate, crisp bacon, red ripe tomatoes. She ate the first half in two minutes because it was so good.Had a simple salad to start, but generous portions and again the lettuce was treated with what I can only term respect.

Not cheap per se, cost $90 for all including a glass of wine for me. But so nice, fabulous service, bringing me an new fork for the main course because I got both forks dirty etc. If you want to be nice to your mom take her here.
