Brasserie NO

I've enjoyed dinners at Brasserie Jo in the past and even recommended it. We just had the hotel breakfast from hell there though. We thought it would be a good place to meet out of friends staying in the Back Bay with our kids. It wasn't.

The waitress brought water and coffee and then disappeared for over 20 min. We had to ask both the hostess and ultimately the manager to send her over. It took a full hour to get food on the table and the restaurant wasn't even busy. The food itself was average to sub par even without the wait. Bagel with the smoked salmon platter was stale and could have come out of a bag from the Shaws across the street. Some of the eggs were cold, poached eggs were overcooked. The chocolate french toast sounded enticing, but it was soggy french toast with some chocolate syrup poured stingily over it. My bloody mary might have been OK if it hadn't been allowed to sit on the bar until most of the ice had melted to water it down.

All in all, just terrible. Maybe breakfast isn't their strength, but the service sucked too. No one even bothered to apologize. With the Select tipping thread in mind, they did tack on 18%, which is good for them as this is a extremely rare occasion when I would have left less.
