The third local branch of Sea Harbour, the Vancouver based Chinese restaurant has opened up in San Gabriel. It's at 172 E. Valley, next to the Hawaii Supermarket. This branch, however, is a Hong Kong cafe style operation, rather than a traditional seafood restaurant. I wonder whether this operation will be as successful as the two locations. It was practically empty last night, though I suspect that word of it's opening hasn't gotten around yet. But while the two dishes we had, fish fillet with haw sauce and stir fried ramen with XO sauce were both very creative and very good, I see a problem with the very limited menu. There didn't seem to be more than a dozen items on the lunch or dinner menu, though you can order lunch items at dinner time. I believe the noodles in XO sauce was the only noodle item on the menu. Consequently, we'll have to see if this place garners the same degree of success as the other branches of Sea Harbour.
