Boysenberries in the Midwest?

Ellise Farber | Jul 23, 2003 10:21 AM

My family and I recently moved to the far western suburbs of the Chicago area from Northern California (Sonoma County). This has involved some adjustment on our parts, but one of the things we've missed most has been the variety of fresh produce available. We have, in particular, missed the presence of boysenberries.

My father enjoys making freezer jams and would love to know where he could find flats of fresh berries for this delicacy, (and to freeze for my Mother's Boysenberry pie). Also, and I know this tends more to the horticultural then the gastronomical, if anyone knows where we could find a cold hardy boysenberry plant at a nursery, it would be much appreciated!
