Just wanted to share an unbelievable pork barbecue experience.
Driving down to Charleston,SC last week I brought the Khounds to 2 temples of BBQ.
Lunch @ King's in Petersburg, Va. (just south of Richmond) Sliced or minced pork bbq ( $2.50 per sandwich ) served on a hamburger bun. Vinegar based sauce with catsup, mustard,s&p,sugar and other (secret) spices. Plus an order of the best homemade onion rings we have ever tasted.
Dinner @ Parker's in Wilson, NC. ( just south of Rocky Mount ) This place has to be on of the best BBQ joints on earth. Cafeteria style eatin with people that are the salt of the earth. Pulles pork with a similar vinegar sauce on the side. mustard based cole slaw, hush puppies (light as a hockey puck) brunswick stew and corn meal sticks. My little one had what she described as the best fried chicken she has ever eaten.
It was unbelievable. The wait staff was all teenage boys with paper hats emblazoned with "Parkers BBQ".
Now I can die.
