I just noticed this new spot yesterday and gave it a try today. The concept is a lot like the deli items at Oakville Grocery or A.G. Ferrari, but not as good yet.

The menu includes about 10 sandwiches and 10 salads. There are what I'd call "fancy Californian:" tempeh sandwich, prosciutto lettuce and tomato, turkey artichoke panini, grilled portabello sandwich, honey lime chicken with avocado, and so on. Each item includes a Chez Panisse-like list of ingredient with sources identified: Acme bread, Bel Giosioso cheese, Wiley Farms lettuce, Cypress Grove Chevre, Fiorucci Proscuitto, etc. Prices for sandwiches are in the $7.50 - $8 range, salads about a quarter less. Sandwiches come with a side salad, salads come with bread and fruit. At the bottom of the menu: "Boxed Foods Company receives its produce fresh each day. We make every effort to use 100% certified organic produce."

I opted for the Truffled Chicken Sandwich: "Grilled Chicken Salad, Truffle Oil, Lime, Celery, Fresh Herbs and Organic Lettuce served on a Herb-Sourdough Roll." It was no surprise that the bread was good. Surprisingly good was the chunks of chicken: tender, moist nuggets of chicken breast. Unforutunately the rest of the meal disappointed. The side salad had blackened greens, uneven salting, and no noticeable dressing. There was no hint of truffle oil, and the sandwich itself was othewise quite bland.

Given that this is their first week in business as far as I can tell, I may give this place some time and try again. But it's not looking good so far.
