Needing a "special event" restaurant near the East River in the low 60s, I used Citysearch to learn of a place called Bouterin at 420 E 59th. Thank God for the Internet! I was able to make reservations online without even having to make a long-distance call. The room was super-charming and the food was worth the chi-chi prices. (The crab cakes in particular were phenomenal.) Service was slow but when it's a special event, who's in a hurry? My guest of honor, not a member of the Easy-To-Please Hall of Fame, had not a single complaint. Highly recommended to midtown executives having affairs with their secretaries.
