I bought this vegetable (???) at the grocery, but I cannot identify it

JKDLady | Mar 31, 201501:26 PM     9

I was at a new (to me) international grocery store yesterday and had a great time perusing the fruits and veggies. I bought several things I'd never heard of (Indian bittermelon, Chinese bittermelon, and tindora). I have been able to find information about all of them, with the exception of this item called opol. I have searched the internet, but haven't been able to come up with a match. I could be missing something, though.

I haven't cut into it yet because I wanted to have a plan first. The skin feels almost like an eggplant.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
