We were in Napa valley yesterday and decided to stop into Bouchon for a quick bite. It was just oysters and pome frites for me and pate for my wife. It was crowded, a number of holiday parties it appeared. We snagged a place at the bar which was just fine. Had a dozen West coast oysters, all were perfectly fresh, chilled and expertly opened, no shell in the oyster. There were four varities, all equally good. These are oysters that one can just "slurp" of the shell, no need for forks or any sauce which would ruin the cold, briny taste. The pome frites were excellent as has been reported here before. The pate must have been good as the plate was clean when we left. A great light lunch.
