Something on bottom of wok

I just got my first carbon steel wok and followed the instructions to remove the coating. I was able to get to the point where, once wiped, the napkin would turn out clean. I noticed, however, that there is a weird coating (or something?) on the bottom of the wok, is this normal? I know it's still meant to be sticky until I use it more and more, but this seemed different...

Any info or tips would be a huge help!
