I'm having a barbeque soon and will be making carne asada as the main dish. I did a search but all I came up with was wines for "spicy Mexican". The ranchera I get from my local carniceria is not very spicy (hot) at all, the predominant flavors in the marinade are garlic and onion, citrus juice, seems like a lot of cumin too... Any suggestions on wine? I generally prefer reds, but will go with whites too if they go better with the food being served. We'll be serving the beef with flour tortillas and probably just the typical chips/guac/salsa/ and rice/beans on the side. In the past we've just gone with margaritas and beer, but at this particular gathering there will be mostly wine drinkers present!
