Boston Transplant or alas The Franklin Cafe I knew you well.

Hi all,

I just moved to SF from Boston, where I lived down the street from a great restaurant called The Franklin Cafe. They served reasonably priced americana entrees (under $20), served a full menu, with never a miss, until 1am and played music like a gay men's dance club. I'm hoping some of you may know of it.

My boyfriend and I have been searching for something like that here in SF. Can anyone recommend a cool, neighborhoody, smallish, restaurant with a no miss menu and relaxed clientel? We're living in the Hayes Valley area (or just outside of it toward lower Haight) and have been to a few places that seem like they would fit the bill, Absinthe, Firefly etc. Loved both of those places for the food, but didn't feel relaxed with the diners....we're kinda rock n' roll people. We want to dine where the servers of these places go! Those are our people!

We love any kind of food, but are probably looking for a good seared tuna, or a mussels in broth app or a great steak while we rock out to trip-hop and sip our cocktails. Please help!

Thanks!
Hez
