This weekend, I return to Boston for the first time in two years. For meals, I imagine I will find a balance between (1) a few old favorites, for sake of nostalgia; and (2) a few places that have opened since I left.
1) For old times' sake, I am tempted to go to Matt Murphy's. I now reside in the DC area, and there is nothing like it there. However, as it has been two years, I am wary. How is it holding up?
2) For recent openings, Tamarind Bay looks tempting. Comments?
3) Also for new restaurants since I left, I am leaning towards a double-header at B&G Oysters and The Butcher Shop. I guess there are some mixed reviews on the execution here, but I am very tempted to go anyway: (1) Seem like "Boston" kind of places; (2) I like Barabra Lynch; (3) I like the South End -- which is one of my most immediate memories of Boston; (4) I love the concept of both restaurants. Comments?
4) Other old favorites I am considering b/c they are hard to find elsewhere: Atasca/O'Cantinho, Oleana, Uni, Cuban Sandwich at Chez Henri, the Cambodian restaurants in Revere.
