Boston Hound Celebrates 50th in Miami

barbara | Oct 30, 200504:43 PM     5

I will be at the Doral during the week of my fiftieth birthday, on business. On one evening, I will be alone and would like to splurge out on a special dinner.

I will not have a car, but don't mind a cab ride for, say, ten miles. So that eliminates anything in Miami Beach.

I am looking for *great* cooking, splendid and friendly service and a good selection of wines by the glass. I would like a place where I won't feel uncomfortable eating alone (this will be a Thursday).

I have looked at Norman's and think that just may be the ticket. Hoping for food and cooking that is different from what I get in the Northeast. What about Ortanique? Francesco's? Other ideas? These are south of where I'll be; anything interesting in the other directions?

TIA -
