Changes to the Boston Digest - and Chowhound Boston Twitter

Dave MP | Apr 24, 2012 03:20 PM

Based on some of the recommendations from this discussion: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/843594 , I've been starting to implement a few changes to the Boston Digest. See below, for a copy of the post I put up on the Boston Board. Eventually, successful experiments may be implemented across all Digests:

If you have any questions/comments about this, feel free to post them to this Site Talk thread. Thanks!

Hello Boston Board,

I've been experimenting with some changes to the Boston Digest, and wanted to alert you all to some of them. Nothing I'm doing is necessarily permanent, but I thought it would be useful to share, as some of you may be seeing changes already.

For those who don't know, you can find the Boston Digest here: http://www.chow.com/digest/boston/
You can bookmark this page to return there regularly in your browser, or you can subscribe to the RSS feed to receive the Digest through another format (whether on your computer or tablet or smart phone).

The Boston board has had some really great content recently—check and see if your tip has made the Digest! I'm experimenting with more frequent posts (some shorter, some longer) as well as the use of pictures. This means that users who post great photographs to CHOW might see them featured, in addition to the great writing and tips that are already included.

I've also started a Boston Chowhound Twitter account, which you can follow at @ChowhoundBoston

I'll use this account to tweet about every new entry to the Boston Digest....so if you prefer to just follow Twitter instead of using an RSS feed, you'll be able to see links to each story that way, too. I may eventually use the Twitter account to highlight specific threads too, even if they are not featured in the Digest, although this is still to be determined. Regardless, it'll be worthwhile to follow!

Thanks to everyone for the great posts and for contributing to the Boston Chowhound community. Even though I'm in California, I'm often jealous reading about what you are eating!
