Help for a Boston Chowhounder

a l i c e | Apr 18, 2006 11:22 AM

The array of NY restaurants is truly dizzying, esp. compared to Boston, particularly when I have been put in charge of choosing an inexpensive and crowd-pleasing restaurant for a group of 8-10 for this Saturday night. The usual list of dietary restrictions includes shellfish allergies, pescatarians, vegetarians, general pickiness, etc.

I've not spent any significant time in the city for the last 3 years. Could anyone here give me a hand? I believe the group prefers to stay downtown and we don't mind eating early if we have to. Oh, and some members of our party don't want to go to Chinatown (but most people will eat any type of cuisine...most of us are Asian). I have compiled a list of places which is too pathetically small to write down here.

Many thanks in advance!
