I lived in Boston many moons ago, and still visit frequently from NYC. I’m curious what folks consider their favorites nowadays - not what you’d recommend to tourists looking for a fancy meal or a seafood place, but places you always want to go back to yourself.
In addition to the city proper, I spend time in Cambridge, Hingham, Westwood, Dover, and Andover.
Some examples of old favorites are Elephant walk, Dali & its sister restaurants, dim sum at Hei la moon, China pearl, and Winsor. On the south shore these days we always end up at Scarlet Oak, Alma Nove, Square Cafe, and Tosca - also Jake’s every so often for lobster. Around Dover we’ve been to Chiara and Juniper, and a couple of places in downtown Needham.
Looking for the places I’d be going to if I still lived there - ethnic places, seafood that’s not tourist focused, fun (younger?) places for drinks and good eats, and places you crave when you haven’t been in a while.
