Thanks to all who provided tips and such these last few months. I did make it to London, although I must say that my stay was less-than-relaxing due to the recent events Stateside. (Somehow food quests become less relevent when world events take over.) However, one does have to eat. My stay in South Kensington was enhanced by my proximity to Bosphoros - that tiny kebab house on Old Brompton Rd touted on this board. And the views proved to be right on the money. Excellent donar kebabs, chicken kebabs, mixed grill, etc... all of which I had the chance to sample [many times over] while I awaited a flight back to the States. Just the right amount of spices and marinade on the meat makes this tiny place one that is worth going out of your way for - a short distance from the S. Ken tube stop. As far as other Chowhounds pub recommendations (Simon's in particular), I did make a couple of forays out to the Wenlock Arms, Hoxton, and was... well, frankly underwhelmed. A terrific assembly of out-of-the-ordinary cask ales and a very "locals" type pub, but it is a bit of a trek if you're without a motor. Just my opinion, and by all means stop in if you're in the area.
