Bos to New Haven unhealthy eats

A friend and I are taking a road trip on the 19th to try a lot of the hot dog/hamburg joints I've read about on this board. Have Ted's, Louie's, Super Duper Weenie (I know it's south of NH), and all those listed from the hot dog thread in Oct. written down, but there doesn't seem to be much toward the early part of our trip. Do you have suggestions for the northeastern part of CT/southern MA for a quick stop? Maybe even a good donut place since that will be earlier in the day. Should we stop by the "quiet corner"? Are there good routes that aren't a major highway but not super slow either?

Also, people mentioned a hot dog place in Colchester I think that was seasonal, would it still be closed? What's the best plan of attack for pizza in New Haven? Does going really late help at all?
