Boozy Birthday Lunch- Saturday Recs needed.

JudiAU | Oct 2, 200302:07 PM     12

Does anyone have suggestions for a location for a boozy, birthday lunch? Many of the places we looked at are closed on Saturday.

Group of 8 people, most from out of town. Must have good wine and or good bartender. Price is very flexible, probably they prefer higher end.

One person in the group is a veggie, three people are gourmands visiting from out of town, two people are friends we are trying to entice to move to LA, one eats everything but has a timid palate, one makes disparaging marks about LA that I would like to counter.

Birthday boy prefers to go somewhere he hasn't been before.

Possible places: Spago (probably too $), Lucques, Joe's (all would work but birthday boy has been to all of them)

Closed places I considered: EM Bistro, Angelini, Opaline, Grace,

Anywhere from the beach to La Brea would work.
