Like many who frequent Chowhound, I collect wine books and cookbooks. Over the years I have complied a list of used bookstores that carry books good or perfect condition. So many of the used books stores have cookbook sections, some have a few wine books but mostly they are pretty dismal because they sell off their rare or collectable books to speciality booksellers. Well I have found where all the good books go when they go to cook/wine book heaven. A side street in Pasadena at J.Jarvits, Bookseller. Janet must have 20,000 vols in her store. It is a dangerous place. I can easily drop a couple hundred everytime I visit. She has very, very old and rare {1800's}, first editions, and cookbooks on every possible form of ethnic or style of cooking. If she doesn't have it, she'll probably know how to get it. Her prices are reasonable. Her website is: www.cookbookjj.com
