My wife and I drive from KY to LA at least once a year. This board has been very helpful in recommendating places in New Orleans.
I want to spend more time looking for interesting little places (and the occasional splurge) on our drive down. We love catfish, bar-b-que, great burgers, and just about anything you can put on a plate (or between two pieces of bread). I have seen references to books before, but can't find them now.
I welcome any book recommendations.
We usually take I-55 down, or I-65/I-59/I-10. We don't mind taking a "moderate" detour". I am going to look at the new Roadfood, though it may primarily cover areas that we don't travel.
I also want to spend more time driving the backroads while in LA. We usually go back and forth between New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette.
Again, thanks to the people who recommended Dragos for our April trip. I now have a stop even before I get into New Orleans. It was a major hit with my new daughter-in-law, who had never before eaten an oyster in any form (and even professed to enjoying them raw).
Thank you in advance for your recommendations.
