Boogered up my Cen brothers wok! Grrrrr....

Was multitasking making dinner the other night, put some fish on the grill, while I had my well seasoned Cen brothers wok on the stove, with some oil in it...was going to stir fry some snap peas. Came back in to find the wok ablaze on the stove. Luckily nothing else caught fire, and the wok fire was put out by putting a large lid on the wok. The wok though now has a coating of near asphalt thick, sticky, burnt oil on it. It's going to have be seriously scrubbed out, and the wok reseasoned. Sigh....it had such a nice seasoning built up on it, that thing was so non stick you would have sworn it was teflon. Any hints on how to take the asphalt off without taking every bit of seasoning off of it?
