Boo to Bacar and the Public

shak | Dec 12, 2003 02:43 PM

I looked into New Year's Eve plans several weeks ago at both bacar and the public thinking they'd be good places to have a good meal and some entertainment. They both failed me in their own ways.

Bacar is charging $125 for four courses. This does not include anything else except some "party favors." The Public is closing for a private party.

The big faux pas was how each restaurant strung me along for weeks.

Bacar at least called me back after a couple of weeks of having my phone number. They left a message and I called back the next day, only to be stuck with a bad seating time (even though they knew the number of people in my party and the time I wanted). I guess I should have been a top-notch customer, dropped all plans and waited eagerly by the phone for their call.

The Public was even worse. I called several times over the past weeks to even get them to take my phone number. They never called back. I called them this week anticipating them having dropped the ball, and I was right. They decided to close for NYE for a private party and didn't even bother to call me. Needless to say, I would have had better NYE options if I had this information weeks ago.

My moral: neither of these restaurants is good enough to warrant this kind of poor service. So I'm going to a place that is less expensive and has much better food--Delfina.
