Restaurants & Bars 1

A friend and I ate at Bonfire in the Park Plaza last nite and it was pretty fun, it always seems more fun at the bar and we had a nice bartender taking care of us. The room is pretty with orangy colors, really nice light fixtures, a wicked long bar with a fairly happening scene of all sorts of people. We stuck with their tacos which have gotten good reviews and a couple sides. Got a tasty mango martini and they served us some potato bread and corn bread. We split the duck and shaved steak tacos ($12 and 8), both were very tasty and the latter packed a little bit of a punch. The tempura green beans were addictive and a relative steal at $6. We should have skipped the roti cake stuffed with shredded beef cuz the other dishes were enough and that just wasn't that great. No room for dessert, they sounded interesting but at $9 and $9.50 seemed overpriced. There were a lot of interesting taco dishes and main dish meals to try another time.

Stopped for a late bite at Canestaro's in the Fenway the nite before and had a good plate of penne/broccoli/chicken and tortellini w/ chicken ($10.95/$11.95) with the cheesy foccacia type bread they serve. This is a pleasant little neighborhood place, I wonder if it does okay since it's removed from the main block of restaurants on Peterborough. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.
