After reading the bountiful banter about the Boneyard Bistro we finally got a reservation and ate there tonight. I admit after all the ups and downs on Chowhound I really had no idea what to expect.
Also, the room is tiny but Very Nice - not a room in which I would expect to eat Barbecue.
But lo and behold - Boneyard Bistro gets 4 stars from us!
VERY noisy, and way too hot in there, but the food is really good. For sure get the baked beans and the fried mac & cheese, which our friend dubbed "the Elvis Kugel."
St. Louis ribs are great, and the calamari appetizer was super. Brisket and pulled pork both excellent. Sausage failed to grab me but didn't suck either. Slaw was perfect - not too zingy and a compliment to the meat.
Little tiny round corn muffins also really good.
Pulled pork crispy dumplings good, "sliders" - tiny pulled pork and slaw sandwiches were very cute.
Finally, tying the whole thing together, the sauce, which was superb. Just superb.
We ate 'til we popped, and still I had a ton of meat to take home.
The chef came to visit at our table and is a pleasure, not a snob. Really fun to visit with him.
We will be back!
