Boneyard Bistro - Yet another one

Eats | Dec 2, 200506:16 PM

My boyfriend and I went to Boneyard Bistro the other night. Arrived early for a 7:30 reservation and were seated about 20 minutes after arriving.

For starters we ordered the pulled pork dumplings. Not bad, but not spectacular. The ratio of dough to meat was a bit high, and, as previously noted on this board, the dough is a bit thick for my liking.

I ordered the tri-tip plate with fries and the mac and cheese. Interestingly enough, the tri-tip was lukewarm at best and some pieces were room temperature. Not impressed. I sent it back, and it came out better. The tri-tip was good, but again, nothing spectacular. The fries were good, but needed salt. In fact, it seemed everything but the meat needed salt. As for the mac and cheese, it was, for lack of a better word, "meh." The coating was extraordinarily thick and there was no discernable taste to it. Quite honestly, it was so bland that if I was asked to identify it by taste not knowing, I would never have guessed it.

My boyfriend ordered the ribs and chicken combo with the same sides. I did not try any of it, but he said the ribs and chicken were good, but, again, not great.

Overall, I was not impressed. I do not know if my expectations were too high or what, but it did not meet anything I was looking forward to. I will try it once more, to give the benefit of the doubt - perhaps it was an off night. However, I am disappointed.

I really want to love this place, but so far it is not looking like that will happen.
