Bon Vie St. Paul Report

Alison | Jan 28, 2006 10:32 PM

Thanks to all who helped me choose a breakfast spot for this morning. I ended up going to Bon Vie on Selby in St. Paul.

It was delicious! I had applesauce pancakes with a side of apple smoked bacon and fresh fruit. It was very tasty. The things I disliked: the "carmelized apples" accompanying the pancakes amounted to 3 apple slices and whipped cream; the fresh fruit was rather limited, although not bad. The hot chocolate wasn't anything special, although I've had worse. It annoyed me that they put on whipped cream after I'd asked for skim milk - you'd think that would clue you into the fact that I don't want whipped cream. But a lot of places do that, and it's partly my fault for not saying anything.

My friend got french toast that was topped with some fruit and creme fraiche. She liked that the bread was nice and thick.

All in all, it was quite good and I look forward to going back.

Thanks for the recommendation.
Alison
