Bomans, Mt. Eden, Auckland, NZ

So it was a somewhat impromptu thing, getting married on Karekare Beach in New Zealand, and it was an accident of timing that we did so on Valentine's Day (at last - a reason to celebrate). But that left the problem of where to go for dins afterward. I hit the CH international listings, and scrolled down (quite far) to find a rec for Bowmans in Mt. Eden. The web site http://www.menus.co.nz allowed me to view menus and the wine list, and make a reservation on line, and they were able to accommodate us, even tho it was V Day.

Fab rec! Thanks to all those valiant chowhounds who have gone before! I had the baked snapper, and my new bride had the lamb. Both exquisite. I don't remember what she had in the way of wine, but I had the Mud House sauvy. Exquisite. It was the one (OK, a couple of hundred) I didn't get to try at the Wine Marlborough Festival a few days before. Great stuff.

So if you're in AKL, and willing to venture to the "suburbs", this is quite worth the drive. And it's not really that far from Upper Queen Street - maybe 15 or 20 minutes at most.

So again, thanks to CHounds for the rec.
