In from Boston for the weekend and with jaundiced eye re: Celeb Chefs (see Todd English...), we arrived at Bolo for dinner Friday night. We were graciously greeted and seated immediately (as reserved). Our waiter was simultaneously and perfectly unobtrusive, attentive, well-informed throughout the meal.
Following a couple of really special and perfect martini cocktails (Flamingo and Pomegranate -- the very best drinks of a number of cocktails sampled during the 3-day visit to Manhattan), each of us enjoyed an individual tapas selection to start (the squid and the 12-layer potato were really memorable).
With our waiter's help, we selected rabbit and lamb shank for mains with glasses of paired wine. The whole thing was delicious.
We had no room for dessert and the check was $150 pre-tip, which we considered good value.
Mr. Flay obviously knows what he's doing in both the kitchen and the dining room and takes great pride in it, along with hiring top folks to help him - we can't wait to try Mesa Grill next time!
