I decided last minute to whip up an easy lasagna dish today... not my typical more laborous dish. I was in Trader Joe's and picked up a box of their lasagna noodles. I was putting the dish together and then realized the noodles were the "no boil" variety... ugh. I hate these things as I've never had good results w/ them (not to mention my Italian mother would slap me upside the head for using them). So, I decided to try to boil them. I dropped them in a pot of boiling water and next thing I knew water was splashing everywhere and this guttural, demonic boil sound was roaring from the pot (I swear)! I was like, "What the hell???" (no pun intended). When I removed the pot from the element it stopped and when I put it back to on the heat it immediately resumed.
So, I gather it's a bad idea to attempt to boil, no boil lasagna????
Oh, and just curious... how do you remove sausage from the casings... squeeze or cut down the length. There's got to be a simpler way.
