Boiled Barkeepers Friend= whoopsy?

Staubfan | Feb 27, 201506:19 AM

I had some incredibly tough stains in a stainless skillet. Regular application of BKF and elbow grease yielded no results. So I made a BKF and water solution and boiled it. Stain came right out but now I have a ring around the water line where it boiled.

I feel a slight difference between the steel and the line with my fingernail. Against skin I notice no difference. At first I thought it was build up, but it almost feels like it could have cut through the first layer.

I've boiled soapy water, water and vinegar, used regular BKF application- nothing helps.

Is the finish damaged beyond repair? Is there something else I can do?

Thank you
