This may sound like a dumb question but is there such a thing as boil safe friendly bags - ziplock esque ?
I just started the process of exploration, but a older family member's health is declining and losing her eyesight. MY goal is to make meals that can be easily reheated. I don't believe microwave is on hand - or even a option to be gifted/placed on premise.
Anyhow, on deck right now is my vac sealer which is very dusty....and I know at least the VacMaster bags should be microwave, boil, etc friendly.
Looking for even more faster options as well. Any ziploc variant, etc that is boil ready ?
I did a rough Amazon lookup. Yuck. They even market Sous Vide Silicone Bags. That's for another discussion/debate but abhooor anything silicone. PewYEW. All silicone has been thrown away in our kitchen - just short of the high temp spatuas. However, I think I will end up buying a silicone mold or 2. TBD. Just for portion servings of soups and such where I can mold it into a smaller size qty than can be reheated.
I think the answer is to just buy pre-made bags.
I have the bulk type where you need to seal it on both ends. We made a huge batch of 3 trays of freezer stuff for the convenience kiddo's food. The thermal bar on the *pro weston* is not meant for the heat of sealing at the frequency we were using it. I was for sure thinking it was going to thermal out. I even stopped and slowed down on purpose, thinking the bar needs to cool down between the usage I was giving it.
I'm sorta all over the place on this one. Not typing with my head on this one but typing with a heavy h3art
