Soft opening last night first impression: In short, I love places like this. Not too many places similar in LA. Its a casual, local, neighborhood, uncomplicated, friendly, no reservations necessary kind of place. You can just walk in get your $5.50 - $8 glass of wine and chill or maybe a little canoodling. And open late ... 1am during the week, 2am weekends. They've got 14 wines by the glass and bottle, served old world style either in the short tumblers or small bowled stemware (all imported from Spain) and filled to the rim.
Its a small place, dark, candlelit and woody, fit probably 30 or so comfortably. A solid heavy wood bar welcomes you as you walk in with small wooden tables & chairs clustered on the side wall and in the storefront window. Also a good place to either start or end your night. If I lived in walking distance that would be the place where I would casually hang rather than stay home and watch a rerun of desperate housewives. Kinda what Molly Malone's used to be back in the late 80's.
Of what I was told, there will be 7 different tapas. No word on what yet, but should start appearing in the next week or so.
The wines are good solid spanish wines. The owner's choices show definite concern for the quality/price ratio.
Going back tonight for a second impression.
