Okay, love is a strong word based on 2 visits, but I really really like Bocca Lupo. Solid cooking and wines by the glass at prices that don't kill you. can't remember what I had on visit #1 (besides the meatballs) but I loved it all. This time around:
The veal and porcini meatballs are served on soft italian bread covered in a light red sauce. $11 for this appetizer - 5 or 6 meatballs or so? dang good. Porcini flavor was stronger on my second visit.
chicken liver with cranberries - this bruschetta was amazing. Need to call to find out about the recipe. It was over the top rich, and a little sweeter than I'm used to. very much a mousse -- extremely light, whipped, airy. had a nutty/chocolate flavor that made me think of hazlenut, then the bartender told me that she thought it was honey. could be. Fantastic, but I wouldn't want too much of it due to the sweetness, where a more rustic preparation I could eat a bit more (like the chicken liver preparation at spotted pig - mmmm!)
sausage and fennel bruschetta was great too. straightforward, simple flavors. the sausage was even light-tasting, the fennel certainly brightened up the flavors.
I do LOVE the simple pickled cauliflower that comes with the bruschetta.
side of farro and mushrooms was rocking good. finished with balsamic and so it really sang. brought the leftovers for lunch and was just as happy. 24 hours later and I'd have it for a meal all over again. just great!
