Bocadillos Report

I went to Bocadillos earlier this week and found that I liked it better this second time.

I started off with a Lillet Blanc as I rarely see it offered in restaurants. My dining companion and I ordered the ahi tuna with shaved asparagus, the 18-month old Serrano ham bocadillo, the patatas bravas and the flat iron steak with chimichurri.

The tuna was wonderful, and I believe it has been mentioned on this board as one of the favorite dishes offered at Bocadillos. It came with shaved asparagus, olive oil and sliced almonds. The almonds added a great flavor to the dish. The olive oil and vinegar (?) drizzled over the tuna was delicious when I mopped it off of the plate with bread. I must say that the bread (stick) served was not the best.

The patatas bravas were nice, but my dining companion was less than impressed with these. I guess he expected the more traditional version of cut potatoes dressed with romesco sauce. The patatas were served thich-cut french fry style with the sauce on the side. The bocadillo was stuffed with a generous serving of jamon. The flat iron steak was also delicious. It came pretty rare, so beware if you don't like pink beef. The serving was generous for a $12 tapa and the chimichurri made it a memorable dish. I would definitely order this one again.

Total for 2 drinks and 4 tapas was $53 w/o tip.
