Boba In Bixby Knolls?--And 50's Coffee House, Too

Chandavkl | Jun 28, 200405:36 PM

Amazingly boba has made its way to Bixby Knolls, though only with Thai Tea, at Golden Café, 3819 Atlantic just north of Bixby Road. Actually Golden Café is a step above the typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, though it certainly won't make you forget Monterey Park or even PCH in Lomita. It does have some less touristy items, including squid with black bean sauce and rock cod with pepper salt, attributable perhaps to the fact that this is a successor restaurant to Wong's Seafood on PCH in Long Beach. And around the corner on Bixby Road (539 E.) is a coffee house called Fendi's Café an interesting anti-Starbuck's place with a 50s feel including poetry readings and live music.
