The Boatyard in Kennebunk, ME

Overnighting at a B&B in Kennebunk, we asked the innkeeper for a dinner recommendation. She suggested a waterfront restaurant, The Boatyard. The best thing I can say about this meal is that the waitress was friendly.
I was not very hungry so ordered clam chowder and an appetizer special of the evening, crab cakes. The chower had a nice enough flavor but was a thin, milky type. Very few potatoes and little more clams. The two large crab cakes were dreadful. I took two bites and gave up. They tasted as if the chef spilled a box of salt into the bowl. They were deep fried and almost burned.
The waitress did not offer to adjust the tab.
My husband ordered steak tips. They were cooked as ordered, but were very chewy and tough. The baked potato was one of those foil wrapped things that looked as though it had been baked early and spent the day in its little foil blanket.
This was by far the absolute worst meal of a week in Maine.
Back at the B&B, the innkeeper's husband prepared a splendid breakfast!
