I certainly make them. I try lots of things, some of which are close but need tweaking and some of which I can only think "What was I thinking?". Fortunately at home I mostly waste time.
I made some cocktail sauce trying ume vinegar. Blech. Tried some tangerine slices in a maki. Added too much Sriracha to egg for tamago -- an interesting idea but next time I'll put less and separately. Bread the density of cement. Ran out of chives and used onion, which can be fine but not there... You get the idea.
We all have had failures dining out, too -- from close misses to absurdities.
Many threads include failures. How about a board where we can present and discuss them?
