I had one of my worst dining experiences ever on Saturday evening at BLVD. The managers, hostess and waitress we dealt with have to be some of the most incompetent people in the Calgary hospitality industry. We had made reservations 2 weeks earlier to book the private dining room and had given a credit card number to the staff to make sure it was held for us. When we showed up, magically our reservation had changed to a table in the main restaurant area. When we challenged the manager on this, we were told it was our fault as we had not given the hostess a phone number. When I explained we were only asked to give a credit card number, and had never been asked for our phone number, his only response was to tell us that the private room was really terrible anyways. We decided to try and make the best of it and sit in the main dining room, even though our table was now for only 15 instead of the 25 people we had coming. After a 45 minute wait for our drinks and a look at their terribly un-appetizing menu, we decided this night was only going to get worse and decided to try some place more organized. When we asked for the bill and told the waitress we would be dining elsewhere the manager had the audacity to threaten us with a charge of $50 per person. I was absolutely apalled at how the management at BLVD handled this situation. My family is in the restaurant business and have owned over 70 restaurants of all genres. If any of our managers had ever handled a bad situation this poorly, they would have been gone the next day. Mistakes happen, reservations get lost, but the sign of a quality management team is the ability to try and fix the situation without blaming the customer. I will not try BLVD again.
