Near the Cannery on Balboa Penninsula, Bluewater is a casual seafood place with nautical decor, indoor or al fresco seating right on the water, quite popular for lunch outdoors on balmy summer days.
Today we had the ahi shashimi, Petrale sole beurre blanc & broiled wild BC salmon, all very fresh & nicely prepared, moist & flavorful. Attentive & friendly service, along with (bottomless) good crunchy sourdough, nice sides of sauteed spinach, cole slaw & mashed.
Verily, one of the very few places around NB where you can get superior chow right on the water at moderate prices (fresh fish with 2 sides averages ~$15). While arguably not gourmet, nevertheless quite tasty & satisfying chow for a lazy weekend afternoon in NB. Branch in South Coast has identical chow & al fresco dining, but IOHO it's a different crowd & just not the same experience as on the water in Balboa (not that there's anything wrong with that).
