Bluefin sushi - Plymouth Meeting

SG | Apr 15, 2003 10:21 PM

Stopped by for dinner this evening, simple decor nice neighbourhood spot. Ordered my standard test sushi items.

Yellowtail, salmon, albacore, tuna, eel, etc.

Overall fish quality was good but rice was a dried out either sitting around too long or not properly covered.

My biggest gripe though was how the nigiri sushi rice is shaped, very very inconsistently! Mostly not oval shaped but rather long and thin and not enough rice to ingredient ratio for a proper base. Also not packed firm enough. Made it very frustrating to pick up and trying to keep everything intact long enough to make it to my mouth and I consider myself very proficient with the chopstick. Really detracted from the whole experience.

It does seem like they have a very loyal following though, lots of regulars with their own personal stash of sake and even chopsticks! :)

Remaining on the list are Kisso, Margaret Kuo, Mikado and 3rd and last go at Fuji.
